thanks and stats

A number of you have written, phoned, or emailed to thank the reunion committee for the weekend. We appreciate your good wishes, of course. We also want to acknowledge the other sentiment you have expressed: gratitude to and for the classmates who came. Indeed, without their presence – YOUR presence, if you were one of them – none of the committee’s hopes would have come to fruition. So thanks, everyone, for coming!

The stats go (more or less) like this: We had 454 in our graduating class, and we can account for the whereabouts of 365. Of the 335 classmates still living, half attended the reunion.

photos still wanted

If you have some good digital reunion photos you have not yet shared, please send them by noon Tuesday (11/15) if at all possible. If you are not sure which ones to send, send the good ones of YOU and/or those at your table. Include the names of everyone in the photos, and email them to photos@TJclassof1965, copying them as well to forty65@hotmail.com.

reunion superlatives

At Sunday’s brunch, we finished the Classmate Superlatives begun on Saturday night. I didn’t get them all, but here are some:

First to Get Married: Dorothy Dee ” Hager Thomas (1964 – March? can’t be sure from my handwriting)

Most Children: Laura Haas Childress (4)

Youngest Child: Ed Haddock (13)

Most Grandchildren: Dorothy Dee ” Hager Thomas (9)

Most Careers: Ronnie Feibish Thomas (6) & Larry Bernstein (5)

Most Times in the Principal’s Office: John Felvey & Ronnie Feibish Thomas

Married the Longest: Betty Cox & Bill Thompson (Class of 64) - 39 years

First to Retire the First Time for Non-Health Reasons: Charles Douglass (age 49)

Came the Furthest Distance: Carol Maier Matuschek ( Germany )

Came the Further Distance in the US : Mary Ellen Navas ( California )

Lived in Most States: Ronnie Reams (7) and Kathy Mapp Waugaman (6)

Most Exotic Pet: Marvine Weeks Michael (Chincoteague pony)

Congratulations, All! Remember that to win these coveted titles, you had to be in earshot of the question. And then you had to volunteer, admit, or otherwise indicate your eligibility for the category. So – challengers, be advised! Prepare now to attend the next reunion. Meanwhile, please forgive any oversights or inaccuracies here – and feel free to send your corrections and additions.

coming attraction

A “heads up!” for those in the Richmond area: Cary Jackson will be performing at Penny Lane Pub this coming Wednesday, November 16th. He says things get started around 9 pm , and he’d love to have classmates join him there.

unfinished business?

And finally, one last forty65 question – for now: Do you have a story about “unfinished business” – you know, something left over from TJ days –  that was resolved, explained, confessed, forgiven, or otherwise tidied up at this reunion? If so, please consider sharing. Names and revealing details can be kept confidential if you wish – but do let us know by replying to this email as soon as you can in the coming week.

Thanks, Everyone. And stay in touch!
